Our mission at Chesapeake School of Esthetics is to prepare each student to go into the industry fully equipped to acquire work. This enables the student to obtain employment in the field of esthetics (and / or makeup artistry), by utilizing the skills acquired through the training provided.
Chesapeake School of Esthetics Skin Care and Makeup Artistry offers two vocational training programs:
Program A - 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program (Esthetics)
This program prepares the student for a career as a professional skin care specialist (esthetician). Graduates of Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry's 600
Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program may find employment in the health, beauty
and fashion industries as fully qualified:
- Estheticians
- Beauty Therapists
- Makeup Artists
- Spa Technicians
Licensed professional Estheticians obtain work in a variety of settings, such as
beauty salons, day spas, hotels and resorts, cruise ships, skin care and cosmetic
companies, department stores and boutiques. Estheticians may also work as self-employed practitioners in a professional setting or establish a home based
practice.
The 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program at Chesapeake School of
Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry has a comprehensive curriculum consisting
of 277 hours of solid theory, including the study of anatomy and physiology,
bacteriology, sanitation, skin disorders, ingredient and product knowledge,
chemistry and nutrition. Our program also includes 323 hours of practical training,
which includes the demonstration and supervised study of:
- Facial and Body Treatments
- European Facial Massage
- Skin Analysis
- Hair Removal Techniques
- Professional Makeup Application
- Application of Skin Care Equipment
- Color Analysis
- Communication and Retails Skills
Classes and Curriculum
Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to apply for the written
and practical Maryland State Board of Cosmetology Esthetics Examination in order to
obtain a state license. The 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program at
Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry is 600 hours in
length. There are approximately 277 hours of live theory/lecture instruction and 323
hours of lab / practical hands-on technique. The entire 600 Hour Skin Care and
Makeup Artistry Program runs approximately 20 weeks in length.
In order to insure optimal personal attention and supervision, class enrollment is
limited to eight students per class. The 1-8 ratio between instructor and student
helps the instructor easily identify the needs and capabilities of each
student.
Program A - The 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program - School
Calendar:
- The Winter 2010 class session begins Monday, January 4, 2010 and ends Friday, May 14, 2010.
- The Fall 2010 class session begins Monday, August 2, 2010 and ends Friday, December 10, 2010.
Technical and Practical Training
Our training is dedicated to achieving excellence by incorporating both technical
and practical methods of instruction into our curriculum. To assure the proficiency
and refinement of skills, students acquire practical experience by participating in
a student clinic. In the 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program, as training
advances, the students will work extensively with the public in the student clinic.
Students are under the supervision of the instructor at all times.
Registration
Enrollment for this program is extremely limited. Interested candidates must be able to meet all financial and schedule requirements. If you are interested in this program, we require that all potential candidates of this program schedule a preliminary interview to discuss the specifics of this program. During this interview, candidates will receive a detailed school catalog and enrollment form. Graduates of the 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program are eligible to apply for the Maryland State Board of Cosmetology’s Esthetics Examination in order to obtain an state license.
Program B - 40 Hour Makeup Demonstrators Program (makeup only)
Training at Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry is
exciting and complete. Our 40 hour curriculum consists of 13 hours of live theory /
lecture and 27 hours of practical experience covering all phases of professional
beauty makeup. The step by step hands-on techniques taught by Chesapeake School of
Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry allows students to learn makeup by doing
makeup.

Classes and Curriculum
The 40 Hour Makeup Demonstrators Program prepares the student for a career as a professional makeup artist. The program meets two times a week for 5 weeks. Classes are held Monday and Tuesday evenings
from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. In order to insure optimal personal attention and
supervision, class enrollment is restricted to eight students per class. The 1 - 8
ratio between instructor and student helps the instructor easily identify the needs
and capabilities of each student.
Program B - 40 Hour Makeup Demonstrators Program (makeup only) - Class
Schedule
Classes are held in the evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesdays.
The start and end dates for the year 2010 are as follows:
- Monday, May 3, 2010 - Monday, June 7, 2010 (No class on Monday, May 31st - Memorial Day)
- Monday, June 14, 2010 - Monday, July 19, 2010 (No class on Monday, July 5th - July 4th observed)
Technical and Practical Training
The curriculum at Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry
incorporates both technical and practical methods of instruction, including over 50%
hands-on technique. Hands-on training is an essential part of every class. Students
are under the supervision of the instructor at all times.

To obtain an Enrollment Agreement for the 40 Hour Makeup Demonstrators Program, you

You can find a link at the bottom of this page. Your completed Enrollment Agreement
must be submitted with your Enrollment Fee ($100.00). The enrollment fee is payable by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard. There will be a 7% processing fee applied to all Visa and MasterCard charges. The Enrollment Fee holds a place in the class session the student has selected. It is for one class session
only and cannot be applied towards another class session. If the student moves
their initial enrollment date to another class session, the student must re-enroll
into the other class. The student will be asked to pay another Enrollment Fee of
$100.00. The balance of the tuition will be
due in full eight days before the first day of instruction.
Our School and Facility
Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry is located in Arnold, Maryland, just north of Annapolis. The school is 45 miles east of the Washington, D.C. beltway, 50 miles from downtown Baltimore and 5 miles from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry is equipped with
two large classrooms. One classroom is used for theory/lecture, the other is used for demonstration and student clinic. There is also a small break room for the students to use. The school has all modern teaching aids, including supportive audio-visual materials designed to encourage those students who learn visually. A library, with a wide range of learning materials, is provided for use by all students.
Equipment and Products
Students at Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry will use
professional skin care products and cosmetic formulations during the course of their
study. The school will
provide student handouts and lecture notes.

Sessions
Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry is open year round
except for New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving
Day and Christmas. The school will be closed December 25 - January 1 for the
Holidays.
If class is canceled due to inclement weather, students will be notified prior to
class by telephone. Classes will be rescheduled at a later date.
Admission and Enrollment Policies
Admissions
Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry admits applicants who
are a least 17 years old, who can present a high school diploma or a copy of their
high school transcripts or G.E. D., or can provide evidence of having successfully
completed a ninth grade education. If the students first language is not English,
they may have to pass the Ability to Benefit Entrance Exam with a passing score of
at least 24. All potential students must be a United States citizen or hold a US
Visa which authorizes permanent employment in the United States.

Enrollment Agreements can be obtained for the 40 Hour Makeup Demonstrators Program

link at the bottom of this page. Enrollment Agreements for the 600 Hour Skin Care
and Makeup Artistry Program must be picked up in person. We require that all
potential students of the 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program schedule a preliminary interview to discuss in detail the specifics of this program
prior to enrollment. A catalog detailing
all aspects of the school will be furnished to each student. The catalog covers all
aspects of the school, including schedule of tuition and fees and methods of
payment. An Enrollment Agreement is required by law for each student and must be
signed at the time of registration.
Financial Requirements
Tuition for the 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program is ($8750.00). There is an enrollment fee of ($150.00) which holds a place in class for the student.
Chesapeake School of Esthetics has entered into a partnership with Anne Arundel Community College. Students can enroll directly into this program through AACC. Qualified students may be eligible for federal financial aid through the college. Contact Chesapeake School of Esthetics for further details.
The tuition for the 40 Hour Makeup Demonstrators Program is ($980.00). There is an
enrollment fee of ($100.00) which will hold a place in class for the student.
Students must agree to comply with the tuition payment schedule documented on their
Enrollment Agreement. Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry
accepts cash, personal checks, money orders and Visa and MasterCard as methods of
payment. There will be a 7% processing fee applied to all Visa and MasterCard charges. Students must supply their own notebooks, folders and writing materials
(approximately $10.00).
Refund Policy
If the school closes, cancels or discontinues a course or program, the student shall
receive a full refund. Applicants rejected by the school shall be entitled to a full
refund of the tuition, enrollment fee.
Cancellation Policy
All fees paid by a student shall be refunded if the student chooses not to enroll in
or to withdraw from the school within seven calendar days after having signed a
contract.
If the student chooses not to enroll after the seven day cancellation period, but
before the first day of instruction, the school will charge the enrollment fee. If
after the seven day cancellation period expires, a student withdraws, refunds shall
be based on the contract price of the tuition. This refund shall include all fees,
except the enrollment fee, and any charges for materials, supplies or books with
have been purchased by and are the property of the student.
The minimum refund the school shall pay a student who withdraws or is terminated
after the seven day cancellation period has expired, is as follows:
Proportion of Total Course Taught by Date of Withdrawal
- Less than 10% - 90% refund
- 10% up to but not including 20% - 80% refund
- 20% up to but not including 30% - 60% refund
- 30% up to but not including 40% - 40% refund
- 40% up to 50% - 20% refund
- More than 50 % - No refund
Refunds due a student shall be based on the date of withdrawal or termination and
paid within 60 days from the date of withdrawal or termination. For the purposes of
calculating refunds, the date of withdrawal or termination is the last day of
attendance. The school shall maintain documentation to verify that a refund has been
made.

40 Hour Makeup Demonstrators Program (Makeup Only)
- Tuition $980.00
- Enrollment Fee $100.00
- Total $1080.00
Graduation and Licensing
The student will be issued a graduation certificate, provided they have met the
following:
- the attendance requirement
- the hourly requirement
- to have a passing score in class participation and group activities
- to have completed all required assignments
- to have completed any class time missed due to absences
- to have received a passing score of 75% or higher on all written and practical
examinations
- to have paid all monies owed the school in full
The diploma will acknowledge that the student has successfully completed all
phases of the course. Graduates of the 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program are
eligible to apply for the Maryland State Board of Esthetics Examination in order to
obtain a state license.
Employment and Placement Services
Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry takes placement
inquiries from employers in the health, beauty and fashion industries throughout the
Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas. The school, by regulation, is not
permitted to guarantee employment or salaries, however the school will provide a
bulletin board displaying current job opportunities for the students to review and
consider.
